106567 2002-12-16 20:53:00 It could be just the compatibility with the display card and the motherboard, I know it might sound strange, but it does happen when one hardware doesn't like to work with another one.

Possible to change to another brand of GF4 MX440?

106568 2002-12-17 01:41:00 i had a similar problem, though not as extreme. currently i used the signed nvidia 28.32 drivers. i don't use the 30.xx.

maybe the 40.xx will be good. but i won't use em usless they are signed by microsoft - often its not worth the hassle.

don't count on it. when you uninstall anything, files can be left behind. hence why there is cleaning apps.

>5. I've just noticed I haven't installed the SiS agp driver, SiS IDE driver and USB Driver. Does this matter??

yes. motherboard drivers need to install first after installing windows. otherwise large amount of headaches will result as other parts will not work correctly.

106570 2002-12-18 12:28:00 Thanks everyone for the help...
About the agp drivers for the card ... i've installed them.
I couldnt find out the problem with the card so I went to upgrade the motherboard bios. After I installed the lastest version. the computer came up with those beeps that tell you something is wrong. It got really annoying so I went to download older versions to try. Before I even got to installing them, I went to the bios setup and selected ' load optimized defaults' reloaded the computer and everything works fine now ..

Thanks everyone
