| 106682 | 2002-12-16 23:15:00 | Hi, I'm helping a friend with a problem. His computer runs very well and he can browse the internet without any problems. But when he starts Outlook Express to check his emails, his computer disconnects. I gave him a PC World disk to reinstall IE but he says it hasn't helped. Anyone ideas? Thanks, asdex |

| 106685 | 2002-12-17 00:47:00 | How many "dial-up" connections exist on the PC? If there are two versions (even if they connect to the same ISP) and IE is using a different one, this will happen. Tools | Internet Options | Connections make sure the Dial-Up connection selected as the default is the same as OE uses. If its there but not the default, make it the default. |

| 106687 | 2002-12-18 20:15:00 | If IE does not have the dial-up associated as the default (in Tools|Internet Options|Connections) "always dial this connection" and "default" then OE will think it has to make a new connection (as there is no default). It will terminate the existing one and start again. If the system knows its the default one, it will not try to re-establish the connection. I can't step you through it as I do not have dial-up, but look at this area and try. |
