107352 2002-12-18 10:29:00 not fair admin, many people won't have xmas gifts, many for religious reasons, others don't believe in it. some will have nobody to share it with, and maybe nothing to share with them even if they could.
xmas is a time for bringing friends & family together, not showing off about the loot you may have got from under the xmas tree.
Please play fair.

They don't celebrate Christmas. But seriously, I know lots of non-Christians that celebrate the dya even if they don't celebrate the reason.

>xmas is a time for bringing friends & family together.

BAH HUMBUG

Actually, Christmas is a time to remember the birth of our Lord. Traditionally in NZ we do that by making it a time of fellowship in meeting with firends and family. Most of NZ observe and even celebrate Christmas by giving and receiving gifts as the birth of outr Lord was a gift itself.

Leading up to haloween many people made posts about the pagan festival which I don't celebrate - but I didn't jump up and down complaining "hey - that's not fair, it doesn't involve me!"

IDG give stuff away quite a lot. This time they decided to enter into the spirit of Christmas by playing Santa and giving stuff away. If you don't like that don't join in.

I for one, along with my 7year old daughter, will be up at the crack of dawn to tell PressF1 what we got. Assuming we've been good enough this year! ;)

Merry Christmas Teddybear :) :) :) Try to enjoy it - it's a magical time for lots of reasons!

107355 2002-12-18 19:53:00 Your favourite Christmas gift doesn't have to be physical. I know that mine will be spending the day with my non-religious in-laws, and my husband, and being surrounded by people that I care about. It could be being grateful for something that has happened during the year, or something that is going to happen. Think outside the square! :D honeylaser (814)

Man, Couldnt have said it better .
I've just recently seen a production done by the local youth group called "Why Christmas" which explains the real reason for Christmas, why it is celebrated, and what everything has to play in the story of christmas .
Why give gifts?
Giving gifts (As IDG are to fellow PF1'ers) is symbolic of how God gave his son as a gift .
Not only that, but giving of yourself, be through time (Spent looking for christmas gifts) or money or anything else is also looked upon by God as something good, something that pleases him, coz he gave his son, and so in giving to others, it is in a sense giving to God also

I neither celebrate, but still, if the kiddies come a knocking (An not many kids come knocking on the door of the Manse) we'll give them a chocie bar and a card with a bublical verse on it .

Yes, Merry christmas, I hope that all the people here have a full-on excellent christmas . I for one cant wait .

But now, I dont want this to be turned into a religious debate on a computer helpdesk website .

Enjoy the spirit of christmas, come two weeks from now, it'll be gone :)

107357 2002-12-18 20:59:00 Last time I heard, New Zealand was a country where people were free to express any beliefs they had, whether it be Christian, Muslim, mormon, atheist etc etc. What people celebrate (or don't celebrate) on December 25th is up to them.

Just because the good people at pressf1 want to do something nice on Xmas ;) ;), doesn't mean they are trying to leave non-religeous people out!

Xmas is a time of giving, starting posts like this are not really in the spirit of Xmas. What pressf1 wants to do is their business.

Happy holidays
