107261 2002-12-18 04:57:00 I got sent a M$ word doc (something.orcon.net.nz) to "print" and distribute (i have no printer) So i took a screen shot, edited it and the best i could get was this
this. (something.orcon.net.nz)

So how can i turn it into a .jpg without all the squiggly lines and stuff. I thought of tidying it in photochop, but there must be an easier way than that!

107263 2002-12-18 05:02:00 Quickest way would be to right click on each underlined word and choose "ignore" for the correction option. Then convert

Quite a good way of distributing the doc actually! Most people can open jpg, but not always Word..

Either that or use PDF

107265 2002-12-18 09:49:00 Why don't you save it in HTML. mikebartnz (21)
107266 2002-12-18 11:23:00 mikebartnz,

Well i dont like html mail, and i know people who dont like it being sent to them, so i nice safe .jpg attachment on plain text email will be universal..

I particually don't like M$words highly over complex html scripting.

I certainly agree with you there but I noticed the printed version was 50600 k
so html would be a smaller download. Most people I know don't like HTML email because it hogs band width for very little purpose. I remember going to a web site a while ago where on the home page you had a choice of a graphical layout or plain text and it was amazing how much faster the text was and yet I still got all the info I wanted.

107268 2002-12-18 12:01:00 There are also people out there who cannot deal with html mail, i can think of a friend with an old mac who cannot open html. The 6+year old mac simply displays the source code, which makes OE written html email rather unfriendly to someone intimidated by technology. Text + .jpg would be hanlded by simply opening the attachment.

I handle html mail in my windows box but have every possible security setting running at "ask" this makes IE unusible, but stops spam opening 20 windows as soon as i open my mail.

Sorry.. i just don't like html mail, and i wont send to others in bulk something in a format that i am personally uncomfortable with.

107269 2002-12-18 17:48:00 why didnt you make it entirely in photochop, as you call it, in the beginning? :D would have made for a smaller file size in the end too (export > gif ;)), eg,

sosoft.orcon.net.nz < almost half the size of the jpeg version

I didn't make it! One of the orginisers sent it to me, so i could send "exclusive" invitations to my friends. She of course knows quite well that i will send quite a few "exclusive" invites out, but like too many, she assumes that everyones computer can do exactly what the one provided for her at her main job can do.

I know from running a email list that not everyone out there is running a M$ operating system with M$ word and the same fonts installed as the author. Infact i have had more than one of these, (quoting responce from a CHCHGIG mailing list post)

Hi Chris,
Unfortunately, your message came thru' as incomprehensible.
Now, this may be because of the system I use......simple text
But, I do know ...not many messages are this perplexing...I do manage to
get clear messages from most other sites....
It's probably a Mac thing.

I'm waffling... What am i doing up this early?
