107087 2002-12-17 23:44:00 I plugged in my oki 410e laser printer today yet it prints out something like pseudocode

just a whole lot of text (I'm trying to print a web page from salon.com)
I selected as usual nb. did not select source code) yet the problem remains (the right printer etc is selected, port etc ok)

any ideas?

I'm sure it is just a printer configuration problem....but how exactly to solve it...:)

107088 2002-12-17 23:52:00 sound like a setup problem because you do get some stuff out of the printer.

what you describe sound like "post script".

check the settings abotu graphics printing and see if if is set for post script. if it is then try setting it for "bitmap graphics" insted.

graphics setting doesn't give the required options on screen sadly...

anyone know this model off hand as I haven't got the manuals with me...

thanks in advance

107090 2002-12-18 03:54:00 another thing

the printer just keeps printing and printing all post-script kind of stuff

although on the print cue there is nothing ....

is this perhaps a testing default or something

also black bands across the paper (this model is an old b&w)

thanks

107091 2002-12-18 04:12:00 If it's a PostScript file and a non_PS printer, the first page would start with "%!", maybe with PS- and a 1 or 2 to show the version. PostScript code is readable (although it's a Reverse Polish language).

Where is this coming from? Did the printer get P&P found and installed when you plugged it in? Is it a PS printer, with the mode disabled (a frontpanel setting)?

I think I've got a 410 somewhere. I might even have the manuals ... I'll have a look tonight.

yes it is definitely post-script starts with a %!-Adobe-3.0 if that's any help

and that is when trying to print a saved web page (all text btw)

I mean the printer is clearly working fine - though without the manuals (I've been trying to find 'em without success 2 slim yellow bound things IIRC) changing the settings isn't readily apparent (at least to me:))

any help much appreciated

107093 2002-12-18 11:31:00 finally I figured out how to work the printer's controls (has to be off-line to change aha :))

and somehow I must've set the defaults as its printing out english again...thank god....!!!

still the black bars seem to be getting worse...
horizontal, 3 * down an A4, toner problems?
