2002-12-19 14:30:00 | Ok . . i created a new address using the www . eudoramail . com website, then set up kmail to collect my mail at the server pop . eudoramail . com using everything left of the @ as login and some other thing as my pass . The welcome message as read in Kmail is: Welcome to Eudora WebMail powered by: We make it easy to stay in touch with family and friends around the globe, anytime from anywhere . Your personal information is private and is not shared with any third parties . Please take a moment and review the great services available and our account usage policies . Help Stop Spam! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I sent myself mail at the new address . . that worked too In short the old format that never officially worked still does (usually) . It must be in what you have typed in . . Clueless

2002-12-20 10:02:00 | I posted a reply to Clueless about 1.5 hours ago but after it had gone I got a page which was headed "Welcome Robin S_" but then said that as a guest I had to log on to use the service I requested (I had already logged on to read the postings in the first place and reply). I suspect that pf1 got knotted and has lost my post. If it does not appear by morning I will redo. | Robin S_ (86) | |
2002-12-21 07:18:00 | Thanks for sticking with this one, Clueless (why ever did you choose that for an alias), and for all the trouble you you have gone to. If it hadn't been for you I would have long since believed the statement I found buried in one part of their site that a paid account was necessary before one can retrieve mail from their POP server. I agree, by the way, about the flakiness of the Eudora web-mail site - it's a very poor advert for encouranging people to take out one of their paying accounts (I certainly wouldn't!). How were you originally told to use 'pop.eudoramail.com' in the domain name field (I gather you figured out what I meant by that term)? I did try that after your first posting but it did't work for me. When I set up Eudora client the instructions I found on the webmail site for retrieving mail from the POP server said to use 'eudoramail.com' in that field. This has worked successfully until the webmail upgrade of 12/12. I presume the eudoramail.com site you used to set up your new account the other night was the new upgraded one, or do you have an old link set up which still works? As soon as I get a chance I am going to try various permutations and combinations in the Login and Address fields in the client and if that doesn't bring success I will try opening a new account, as you did. The fact that you can retrieve mail with 2 different clients points the finger of suspicion firmly at my Eudora client. Thanks again for your persistence. I am a bit pushed for time and may not be able to pursue this much till after Xmas. I'll keep you posted. Condiments of the seasoning to you. Robin

The learning kurb left me suddenly feeling like a born again newbie, also i'd just done 1000+ posts as "chris wilson" . Clueless |

2002-12-22 11:13:00 | Yay!!!! Success at last. For the umpteenth time (but the 1st time since about last Tuesday) I tried using pop.eudoramail.com as the POP server address and this time it worked. Previously it would not accept my password for [username]@eudoramail.com as legit for pop.eudoramail.com but tonight it did. Interestingly, my son (who also has a eudoramail.com account) e-mailed me last night to say that he was forced to change his POP server address from eudoramail.com to pop.eudoramail.com several months ago when he suddenly could not retrieve his mail into a client. All very frustrating. Thanks a million again, Clueless, for your patience and trouble. As I said last night, if it hadn't been for you I would long since have accepted the claim that a paid account was necessary for POP access. May your only troubles be little ones! Thanks also, Greg, for your offer. I still intend setting up another webmail/POP account sometime but if Eudora keeps working for a while the pressure is off to do that and I can catch up on a few other things. Robin
