107107 2002-12-18 01:04:00 I have tried the various methods of changing files but 'nix' on closer looking at the attachment that I am trying to open there is mention that they are quick time files have also looked in some of my old files and they to are in quick time files now, with the dreadedC:\viewer .exe not to found .I wonder if in downloading quick time files recently I have managed to mess all up .I have now got rid of quick time but it has made no difference it still doesn't work
.any ideas

107108 2002-12-18 01:15:00 Have a look in the FAQ, I think Susan B has covered it.

Otherwise, Re-Download the latest Quick Time (7 I think)

107109 2002-12-18 01:21:00 It is a BIG help to others if people would keep all their related posts in the same thread so that it is easy to refer back to the original description of the problem and the suggested solutions. Please remember that for next time.

It sounds to me that your "jpg" files might possibly not be jpg files at all and are named incorrectly. Or possibly the downloading of the quicktime files has messed things up, like you say.

Would you like to send me one of the jpg files for me to check its authenticity for you with one of my graphic programs? My email address is in my profile.

107110 2002-12-20 23:00:00 Thanks Susan. I am pretty sure the files are .jpgs as I can open them successfully in my other graphics program - Photostudio 2000 - but they won't open automatically there, and it would be really nice to not have to go through the rigmarole of saving them to a file, opening Photostudio, then finding the file and opening it. I used to be able to just click on the attachment and it would open straightaway in an Explorer window. Then I installed Quicktime, and they were supposed to open in that, but never did. Since then I uninstalled Quicktime, but don't know how to reassign either PhotoStudio or Explorer as the program to use for opening them. Can't seem to get rid of the Quicktime icon either.
Hope this makes sense

107111 2002-12-21 02:54:00 Hi. Check out FAQ # 13 regarding file associations.

ps - don't worry about Susie Bee's mild admonishment - she's normally in "bossy" mode! ;)
