107049 2002-12-17 22:54:00 hey all,

does anyone know of a program that will list the file names and lengths of my multimedia (ie/ vids & mp3s). I think i may re-format soon and i will want to re-download them....i don't have a cd burner so i can't back up.

I tried using a script in mIRC but I felt it a pain to always edit out my nick, also the new winamp has an html lister thingy, but i don't use it and don't want to download winamp - get all the file associations changed - just to make a list of my stuff.

runnin win98

thankies

107050 2002-12-17 23:00:00 Well the fact that your gonna do a reformat! you might as well download winamp and use its html indexer.
THink in the time it took you to write the message you could have downloaded half of winamp.

107051 2002-12-17 23:24:00 Start > Find > Files or Folders in named type *.mp3 will find all files with the mp3 suffix. Repeat for *.mov *.avi *.wma etc crozier (2004)

107053 2002-12-18 00:01:00 Get WinAmp3 if you've got someting over 500Mhz with more than 128MB RAM (Maybe 128MB RAM, but you're pushing it to multi-task).

Otherwise, Get winAmp 2.8x, both have Generate HTML Playlist Options

107054 2002-12-18 03:16:00 yeah my computer does not handle winamp3 very well at all (im runnin a 333mhz 64 meg ram) throws a hissy fit everytime! hence i uninstalled it and opted for Coolplayer - a nice lil' player that some lovely pressf1 user reccomended.

Thanks for all your replies guys, im goin to get an earlier vers. of winamp :)

Merry Christmas to all!!

107055 2002-12-18 03:24:00 Go on, in a DOS window dodir c:\*.mp3 >> c:\myfiles.txtThen do it again with any other extensions, and they will be added to the end of the file called "c:\myfiles.txt". Then you can use wordpad to tidy it up and print it.

107057 2002-12-18 03:34:00 Of course it's WRONG.dir c:\*.mp3 /s >> c:\myfiles.txt You need the "/s" so it will go down all the levels. (If it coughs about the command, move the "/s" so it becomes "dir /s c:\ ...". ) Graham L (2)
