| 107631 | 2002-12-19 21:11:00 | Just a story: The day finally came when all of the computers and cyber-machines of the Universe Federation’s 120 million planets were to be joined in one vast interconnection. The Chief Administrator stepped forward as agreed by the Federation Council to close the switch to connect the machines and ask the question that had bothered mankind since it first came down from the trees: “Is there a God?”. A bolt of lightning flashed from the clear sky, killing the Administrator and fusing the switch permanently closed. A massive voice boomed all around “Now there is”. Moral of story: They must have used a Microsoft OS, probably a super-activated version of XP. (Full acknowledgment to Frederic Brown’s 1954 short story “Answer”.) |
