2002-12-19 19:00:00 | Can anyone here with a Nokia ni500 adsl modem help me in working out how to connect to jetstreamgames. I have asked here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) but can't seem to work it out. I use XP, NI500, Realtek ethernet card (?) and very little knowledge. ?:| cheers sam m

2002-12-19 19:23:00 | Login in to it. On my m1122, I just use a browser to go to "m1122" so you could try "ni500". Or use IP address of ni500. Login with no user name and password Telecom (or other way around). You change login and password there. It's a major pain in the ass, which is why I never bothered going in to jetstream games as you have to change back again when you want to surf. robo.

2002-12-19 19:37:00 | I have been told that connecting to Jetstreamgames.co.nz is a long and tedious process that is hardly worth going through more than once. Apparently, the instructions are hidden somewhere deep on Telecom's site (http://www.telecom.co.nz), and my friend only figured out how to do it after reading a magazine article about it, but I'll go off searching for the means to connect to it. I know you don't have a Nokia M1122 modem, but here (www.telecom.co.nz) are some instructions for how to access Jetstream Games, and here (www.telecom.co.nz) are the instructions for other modems. This is a quote from the page: You will need to log into the JetStream Games realm to access JetStream games through other modems. You should be able do do this through your Internet browser by typing in 'http://192.168.1.254'. Follow the instructions in your modem user guide for setting up a new service provider's address. You will need to enter 'user@jetstreamgames.co.nz' into the UserName, leaving the password as it is. This terminates your internet session until you log back into your ISP. Once you have finished playing on JetStream Games, change back to your ISP.

2002-12-19 20:12:00 | Thanks for replies. I also heard that is can be annoying as well and hence have never tried. BUT.... according to the the help I got before from the other link (godfather and nzStan) by logging in I can download Americas Army in 17 minutes!!! I just want to see it fly! I have tried those links before agent but nothing seems to happen. That IP address just displays as "Page cannot be found" The login in to the modem is something I am not sure about but to be honest I have been focussing on logging into jetstreamgames, not logging into my modem. Still not sure what that means so off to google I go. Step by step instructions are what I need to login to modem so if anyone has the patience I would appreciate that greatly. thanks sam m

2002-12-19 20:37:00 | If I remember correctly the Ni500 doesn't have a web interface. You need to have a serial cable connected to it (should have come with one) Then you need the DSL-on software that came with it. (Should already be installed if you have been using the modem) Run this again and follow the intructions on screen and on one of the screens you have to select a configuration file. There should be one for jetstreamgames. Use the user name etc as supplied in an earlier post. And that should be it. Go to http://www.dsl.nokia.co.nz if you need the software. Remeber to run through that again to change back to your original ISP settings!

2002-12-19 21:01:00 | Sorry Sam I can't help you with this as I have no experience with your modem/router. BTW I'm surprised you fellas say it's hard to use JSG!!!! It is the easiest thing for me and a lot of my fellow gamers. I can switch between normal ISP and JSG within 10 seconds. I use an internal Nokia Ni200. I create two dial-up accounts (similar to the way you create model dial up accounts). One is call Xtra, the other Jetstreamgames. So when I disconnect from Xtra, I reconnect to JSG with a couple of seconds and away I go. What I can suggest is posting this question at my technical forum (demonz.kiwiclub.com) where we have a lot of DSL gamer or the JetStream technical forum (forums.jetstreamgames.co.nz). Best of luck. You don't know what you're missing if you can't get on JSG even if its just to download the patches and demos from their FTP file server.

2002-12-19 21:14:00 | Thanks CYaBro, That sounds familiar. However since upgrading to XP the cd supplied (DSL-software) is not compatible with XP, when I upgraded to XP from ME I could not run cd so in the end I had to ring 0900 support to get them to step me through configuring modem to connect through XP. I will search the site you gave me to see if there is any new info. Thanks for that as I do remember going through that entering details to connect to Xtra so basically if I can get to that I just change it to user@jetstreamgames.co.nz. I am starting to think that maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew, but hell, it's all learning so it's all good. thanks sam m

2002-12-20 11:25:00 | It doesn't look like an easy fix, but here is the detailed instructions in pdf format. Worth a crack but gets a little on the confusing side. Ni500 Manual (dsl.nokia.co.nz)

2002-12-20 17:51:00 | Thanks Splatter, I actually have that on Hard Copy and I have read it several times but it might as well be in written in Latin (or is it?) as it makes no sense whatsoever to me. (I have been to Demonz forum and saw the post and your reply, I should have replied there *sorry*) I think that when I upgraded to XP I needed tech support (damn 0900 number) and they set me up on LAN setup, so my computer with it's own IP address talks to NI500's IP address and that talks to outside world. I have instal CD that worked fine with ME but not with XP. I have tried opening the files and can see on the cd that there is a file specifically for jetstreamgames but cannot open it. Again I think what I would have to do to connect to jetstreamgames is to have DNS numbers????? I have 192.168.7.1 and 192.168.7.2 as computer and modem but in the DNS I have Xtra 202.27.184.3 and 202.27.184.5. Does this makes sense? or am I going off on a tangent? thanks for the help so far sam m

2002-12-20 21:09:00 | Hey Sam - this should really be an easy thing for you to do... when you connect to the Net, how do you actually go about it - do you get the option to enter your password? If so, you'll see your username - simply change it to xxxx@jetstreamgames.co.nz | Greg S (201) | |
