107466 2002-12-19 03:12:00 Here ya go. I've asked (forums.jetstreamgames.co.nz) the JetstreamGames.co.nz admin to load the full Americas Army 1.4 file on their FTP server.

Full install file for version 1.4 can be downloaded from www.jetstreamgames.co.nz

The patch upgrade file from version 1.3 to 1.4 is at www.jetstreamgames.co.nz

For those wondering what Americas Army is about, its a free army-simulation game, very realistic, great graphics and sound. Would have cost $100 to buy, but its free (courtesy of the American Tax Payer's dollars). More info at http://www.AmericasArmy.com.

107469 2002-12-19 04:25:00 Hi Guys

Two questions. How long does it take to download via 56k dial-up and do you have to play it online?

107470 2002-12-19 05:13:00 The 290MB would take a while. Suggest you find someone with Jetstream to download and burn to CD for you (or find an internet cafe with CD burner facility). Patches are in the 20-30mb so that's more manageble.

This is really an on-line game. You can play the SP training ie basic weaponry, airborne jump and if you qualify, the Sniper school. But to really appreciate this game you need to play online and witness how silly mistake can kill you.

The brilliant thing about AA is you can't play 'Counter-Strike' style. You'll die very quickly if you (well I die very quickly even when I don't :p ). You can kill your team mates very easily because there isn't any FOF identifications (like names about their head). It's worth the download.

107471 2002-12-19 05:30:00 Thanks nzStan and Tim for info about AA. I am an avid Medal of Honor fan so it would be interesting to see how I go with this. I had downloaded a few days ago from Nvidia but when I opened it stated that there was a file missing (armyops.msi) :( My search for help resulted in advice to re-download grrr..... I am jetstart with xtra so I was going to wait until next month so I don't go over 5GB limit.
Is the above link NZ? I have heard even though some sites have .co.nz does not always mean they don't access International traffic which I have to be careful about.
As a matter of interest using Jetstart I can download at 15kb and AA will take about 5hours. If this is not international traffic then it looks like my computer will be working overtime tonight ;)

thanks

107472 2002-12-19 05:37:00 sam, if you are jetstart/xtra you should be able to temporarily reconfigure your ADSL modem to user@jetstreamgames.co.nz keep exist password
Then you can connect to the link above (save it first as internet access is lost under the changed log-in) and download at fill ADSL speed - no usage charges.

It will take about 15 minutes at 275k/B speed.

107473 2002-12-19 05:41:00 This is your lucky day Sam ROTFLMAO!!!

Have you heard of the JetStreamGames realm? All Jetstream users can connect to the JetStreamGames.co.nz realm at full DSL speed (ie 2Mbits) without affecting their connection limit. (read more at http://www.jetstreamgames.co.nz)

Instead of connecting with your personal jetstream account log in with user@jetstreamgames.co.nz (no password required).

Once logged in, go to ftp://jetstreamgames.co.nz/pub/

From there downloading the 290MB file will be under 20-30 mins. There are other files to download there too. Try the Raven Shield demo. (BTW the mohaa patch is there too).

BTW - I'm also on 128k JetStream Starter. The JSG realm allows me to play Battlefield 1942 at full 2MBits speed.

If you're a FPS player I invite you to drop by http://demonz.co.nz and check it out.
