107448 2002-12-19 02:49:00 When you open Outlook Express, tick the "Go immediately to Inbox" option. I find that generally stops MSN Messenger from opening.

You should also look at disabling through msconfig too... that helps!

Start > Run and type "MSCONFIG" (without the " )

On the startup tab lists most of the applications that run at startup, find and take the tick out of the ones you don't want running at startup (including MSNMSGR - MSN Messenger) and then click apply and ok
A reboot will be required and that's that.

Also, in Outlook Express click Tools > Options
Under the General tab take the tick out of Automatically log onto Windows Messenger (aka MSN Messenger)

107451 2002-12-19 03:34:00 Thankxx chuck,

I had already taken that "automatic logon" tick from Outlook express when i installed Win XP.

I cant seem to find msnmsgr in msconfig.
I had already did that "do not run when windows starts"
from MSN Messenger ->Options->Preferences tab.

So it is not starting automatically. Just to sure this, i enabled this from MSN messenger preferences tab and went back to find in msconfig that
msmsgs was listed as to start up when windows starts.

I still cant seem to exit messenger when outlook express is running.
