107616 2002-12-20 10:25:00 And don't forget the DOS Xcopy command either. This was used to copy the whole directory structure from a 5 1/4 " to the 3.5. Elephant (599)
107617 2002-12-20 10:30:00 Oh... Cabling...

Connect the 5.25 to the second connector on the cable that goes to the A: drive and tell the BIOS it has a 5.25 as drive B:

107619 2003-01-04 01:35:00 Back to the start. It's a 286 and you can't get into the BIOS? Is it a Compaq? Have a look on the HD for programmes with "setup" as part of the name. "dir c:\*set*.* /s might work. Some of the (very heavy :D ... ring a bell?) Compaq ATs had no BIO setup in ROM ... it was a programme on the HD, (and on the set of floppies which came with it).

That might get you using the 3½ floppy. If not try adding one of the drivers I suggested before in config.sys. Or if you have DOS6.xx or W9x (which had it in the OLDDOS directory) you could use the MS serial filecopy utility.

Or you might get a 5.25" floppy from www.computerbroker.co.nz or www.bcl.co.nz ...
