107771 2002-12-20 07:53:00 I somehow recieved a VBS/Pila Virus which copied itself to C:/Restore/Temp/A0292850.cpy unfortunatly i can't get rid of it as AVG can't Quarantine or Heal the file.
the Symantec Page is here securityresponse.symantec.com

It doesn't seem dangerous, but i would still like to get rid of it.
I'd Prefer not to reformat.

107772 2002-12-20 07:55:00 Im taking it you have either WinME or XP.

Try turning System restore off, running an AV scan, then turn it back on again!

Merry Christmas!

107773 2002-12-20 08:12:00 is it safe to turn System restore off permanently cause i don't use it anyway and i'll gain 3 gigs of HDD space back. Shia (2542)
107774 2002-12-20 08:14:00 hmm weird it seems to have gone. Shia (2542)
107775 2002-12-20 09:37:00 If you turned system restore off, it deletes the restore files that still contained the virus.

You couldn't delete the virus because those restore files are system files.

Now the files have gone, therefore so has the virus?
