108124 2002-12-22 00:06:00 Sounds like the game might've changed some settings. Check your 'Sounds and Multimedia' Control Panel options, see if anything looks out of place. Check the "only show compatible devices" tickbox just to be sure.

Sometimes on the computer I'm using now, sound will come from the PC speaker if it can't get through the normal sound card. Also try removing the soundcard and all related devices from the Device Manager in the 'System' Control Panel (if you're not sure, just remove everything under the 'Sound, video, and game controllers' category and be sure to have your driver CDs around). Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your soundcard, then reboot your computer. When Windows detects the "new" hardware, install the correct drivers and it should have corrected your problem.

108125 2002-12-22 00:13:00 Take the simple route first.

Open up your volume control (either by clicking on the icon in the task bar, or via Sounds in the control panel)

Select properties, tick all the boxes.

Make sure that your settings are all OK. There are 14 sliders in mine. Make sure that there is no tike in the Mute box for any of your outputs. The PC will revert to the speaker if no items are available, or muted.
