108057 2002-12-21 20:21:00 I am attempting to rid this PC of all traces of Symantic NAV. Ive gone through Add/Remove Program, deleted Symantic folder, Run Regisrty Cleaner and searched for any entries for Nortons and Symantic.

When I export the Registry to a text file (90kb worth) I can still see Nortons & Symantic enteries in the list.

I know that NAV is not fully deleted, because when I reinstall, it shows the current Expiry date (Feb 03).

So, if I delete lines from the text file containing Norton and Symantic , then import the registry back into XP, will it run OK afterwards.

Thanks.....John.

The answer to your question is yes . Your computer will still work, however, just because you have deleted the entries from the registry file that you have exported means nothing, as when it comes to import them again, as the Norton and Symantec have no been "altered" in your text file and just deleted, then in the registry they will not be altered and just left alone as your computer will just update your current registry settings to the ones in the text file and leave all the others?? - confused yet? ?:|

In simple terms . . . Because the text file has had the symantec records deleted then when it comes to import time the symantec files will still be there as they are not been told to be edited

The only way to realistically remove the Symantec files from your registry is to manually delete them one by one

108060 2002-12-21 23:27:00 I think the files you're looking for are in:- documents and settings>all users (& 'owner' also) >application data (which may be hidden) and then delete symantic in both of these files... Trev0 (1995)
