108004 2002-12-21 08:52:00 Howdy Group,

I am trying to rebuild my life after my computer got hit by lightening.
I have w98se installed on a rebuilt system. On explorer the c drive label has this next to it:
Disk1part01 (C:)
Can I edit the words some how, I kinda like Hard drive (C:)
Thanks for your time.

108005 2002-12-21 08:56:00 Can you not right click on it and select "Rename"

(Sorry, dont have 98, but this worked in ME, XP)

108006 2002-12-21 09:59:00 Rightclick on it and select 'Properties'. You can then edit the 'Lable'. wuppo (41)
108007 2002-12-21 11:11:00 Hi. Go Start | Programs | Windows Explorer | right-click on My Computer, or it may now show Disk1part01 | select Rename - and go from there. Greg S (201)
108008 2002-12-21 11:38:00 Yeah, if you want it to say "hard drive (C)" or whatever, just right click on it, select rename, clear everything in the label, and then press enter. As it now has no label it should say "hard drive (C)". agent (30)
108009 2002-12-22 06:03:00 Thanks for the replies.
It worked for relabeling the c drive but it is greyed out on my d and e drives. (cdrom and burner.)
I was going to label them the same way but it doesnt look good.

Thanks

108010 2002-12-22 06:24:00 you can't label cd drives as they are removable disks and the contents(including the disk label) change when each new disk is inserted. tweak'e (174)
108011 2002-12-22 06:49:00 To change the drive letter assignment for a CD drive (I'm assuming your still on Win98):

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System
Click on the device manager tab
Click view devices by name (if not used already)
Expand the CDROM Tree
Select your device and click properties
Go into the settings tab
Change the start and end reserve drive letter to the letter you want the device to be
