107925 2002-12-21 04:25:00 Hi I am looking for a program that will

1 Pop 1 email account
2 Get a fax number from the subject line (the subject line will only have a
fax number or it will be not faxed
3 Fax the body of the email to the number in the subject line
(only text will be in the body)

Anyone can help or perhaps point me in the right direction?

107926 2002-12-21 05:19:00 I never tried it but I think Outlook does that, I use Winfax for faxing myself.

www.google.com

www.google.com

Try the above two links for information on some email to fax options, how many might apply to NZ I cannot say.

Alternatively, get a stand alone free fax program. Bitware used to be free? and was often bundled with modems. There are other free fax software available which I cannot recall the name of just right now.

107928 2002-12-21 22:44:00 I was thinking of doing this myself, have got a fax program already installed on here, ever since i got this computer (winxphome)...and i tried faxing a friend but it keeps saying "dial tone not found" i tried both being online the internet and offline...and then i left it and tried it again sometime and it just completely wont send anything...
We have a fax machine (a proper physical one) but...like if i move out and live by myself or wif a friend..i'd need a faxmachine to contact home or watever...(since i'm deaf)....so yeah hope someone can help :-)

107929 2002-12-22 11:55:00 You should start a new topic for setting up your computer as a fax machine.

You modem has to be fax capable or it won't be able to work as a fax. You'll need fax software of course to be able to send/receive faxes.

If all that is there... then most likely the problem is in the configuration of the fax software. Make sure you selected your modem to do the faxing. Make sure you aren't on the internet or anyone is using the phone when faxing or else it won't pick up the dial tone.

If you start a new thread with the name/version of the software you are using as well. Possibly someone could give you more details of what you want.

107930 2002-12-22 18:52:00 Hey Chris,
Just a thought. Do you have callminder at home? If so, ask someone to check to make sure that there are no messages there as the 'message notification tone' may be why the modem is not detecting 'dial tone'.
Just a thought.
In saying that I find the fax programme with XP very unreliable, my problem when using it says that there is always a 'busy signal' at the recipients end. I have winfax which works well but the wife finds winfax too complicated so that is why she uses XP fax programme. There is also something there with winfax to do with emailing but have never explored that option yet.
