107918 2002-12-21 04:19:00 im using Win2K and the PSU doesnt support APM, but when I shutdown, it tries to use APM or something, and turns off the HDD, but doesnt display the "Its now safe to turn your PC off". How can I get it back, I miss it dearly ;)

Under the Power Options in Control Panel, it doesnt show anything extra like "Enable APM" anywhere that i could untick.

I'm thinking its trying to use APM when my PSU doesnt support it, perhaps Im on the wrong track thou.

Thanks

107919 2002-12-21 05:14:00 Have you tried looking at the power management options in the BIOS? -=JM=- (16)
107920 2002-12-22 03:05:00 Hmm... Yeah, disabled and all, the PSU is an older ATX style! Chilling_Silence (9)
107921 2002-12-22 04:27:00 There could be APM management settings in the Display Properties. Right-Click on the desktop, choose properties and then choose APM Management (I think that's what it's called) and check that it's not using APM. Kame (312)
107922 2002-12-22 09:01:00 There is no option at all... Chilling_Silence (9)
107923 2002-12-22 12:04:00 Possibly look in the Screensaver section. Sorry I'm not in Windows so I can't check so everything is what I am thinking is correct. Kame (312)
107924 2002-12-22 22:40:00 In XP Help and Support, typed in Power Management, a list of 24 Tasks, Tutorials etc was available. Does Win 2K have similar? With XP you just click Turn off computer twice and you get Windows shutting down and automatic turn off, is 2K set up same?.ie no possibility of getting the display you want. FrankS (257)
