1300072 2012-09-10 22:10:00 Hi Peoples

Just wondering whether anyone can shed some light on to whether I have received a phishing email from PayPal.

I do have an account, however I have only ever used it once and have just received an email saying I've purchased something from the US - a Sony product valued at $275.99 plus $20.09 postage, total $295.08

Nothing has come out of the bank account I set up PayPal with ... Just have the feeling something is not quite right. It doesn't have my name anywhere, just Dear PayPal Customer ... it has links (x3) to the person whom I have supposedly sent the money to, plus a link to PayPal " Note: If you haven't authorized this transaction ,click the link below to dispute transaction and get full refund."

Not sure whether it's even safe to go to the PayPal link ...

Suggestions anyone ??

1300073 2012-09-10 22:33:00 Just the last sentence indicates a phishing email. Bad grammar - should be '... to dispute the transaction and get a full refund'. If you are worried, go to the paypal account by entering the URL yourself, not by following a link in an email. user (1404)

1300077 2012-09-10 23:01:00 I have 3 E-mail addresses and no paypal account and I got the same E-mail twice. I'm guessing Gmail has a better spam filter than xtra.

Anyway, click the spam button if you have one, delete it and forget as sam said. This is a regular scam that does the rounds every so often. You should never click links on these types of E-mails.

Paypal
Western Union

I think that the IPS's should get together and toss them.
