1299183 2012-09-05 23:48:00 The new proposal from the Welfare Department to cut benefits from people on the run from the law is a very good one. Why should the tax payers support criminals. Once they have reported to the Police the benefit will resume pending trial or discharge.

Any beneficiary is an employee of the people/government, and as such they should behave themselves and observe the law. Crime is not in the job description.

1299184 2012-09-05 23:49:00 Doesn't go far enough, it should be cut as soon as the warrant is issued and there should not be any access to further grants of any kind. DeSade (984)
1299185 2012-09-05 23:59:00 Pretty much. I'm shocked that the government is so stupid as to have allowed this until now.
Well, no I'm not. I've sort of come to expect the worst from this country so there you go.

1299186 2012-09-06 00:02:00 But it has probably been going on for years.

So how come no one brought it up ?

You know those lists that show the most respected professions? The lists with firemen and airline pilots near the top, and politicians and car salesmen at the bottom? IMHO journalism is challenging the latter for bottom place.

I trust this goes some way to answer your question ...

I would challenge that list of respected professions! It is pretty clear where a Paid Firefighter would stand on that list but a Volunteer Firefighter has other employment or is unemployed eg Home with kids between jobs etc. But where would a Volunteer Firefighter fit in when their day job is a car salesman????

Back to the topic! Certain clown I know of was working cash in hand for someone, while claiming the benefit. Stupid prick decided to commit an act that got the Police Attention which uncovered why he had moved to the area. Few outstanding warrents!!! He then goes to blame the person who laid a complaint against him for not being able to travel to Australia for work! Dumb prick would have been arrested at the airport with luck anyways. Anyways they now are on remand and with luck be facing fraud charges to the list of things they have done.

Trouble is the tax payer is going to pick up there tab with free accomodation and food in prison! who needs the benefit when crime gives you a warm bed and food.

They only have themselves to blame if their children go without and they can end the issue by turning themselves in as they should have done originally.
