I didn't know it had gone out!

It should become a requirement at petrol stations that the driver runs their licence through a scanner / card reader prior to any fuel being dispensed.

Those without a licence, or on a curfew (teens / disqualified / unlicenced) don't get any fuel!

It may help stop our repeat offending on the roads and cut the carnage.

Stick a barcode on the rego, warrant and licence. If any of the three are invalid then no fuel!
It could also allow the authorities to partially follow the movements of known or suspect crims.

1299217 2012-09-08 09:44:00 Fact remains that if you cut off their taxpayer-funded income stream, they will simply turn to the others: stealing, burglary, drug dealing, mugging, snatching purses from old ladies. What self-respecting crim is going to allow the withdrawal of the few measly dollars that constitute a benefit change his wicked ways and turn himself in? There are much bigger pickings to be had outside the system and I have yet to see a career criminal go hungry, let alone his kid and seven 'starving' wives. Blue Druid (4480)

Quite right. They orta make more laws.
Also flogging for left handed motorists, keel-hauling for drivers of diesel vehicles and hanging for red - headed drivers or passengers.

Just steal it like the crims do. If you're caught, explain that you were forced to do it because your dole had been stopped. In any event, the judge will probably sentence you to be the recipient of $100 of petrol vouchers and three kisses from a beauty queen.
