1299083 2012-09-09 22:22:00 Yeah it's quite funny, most people are happy to ***** on about Govt. spending, but when it comes to crunch time and cut-backs are announced for that kind of thing, people don't seem to realize just *what* kind of an effect that will have on the front-line services like that ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1299084 2012-09-09 22:40:00 I have had mixed service from WINZ (same office, different case manager a few years apart). Was in hospital the first time, seriously ill and my wife managed to organise some payments after jumping through a few (not unreasonable) hoops - passports, birth certificates - including kids, proof of income.

But when I went back to the same office a couple of years later to apply for some dole to tide me over, I had to supply the same damn documents all over again. **** me - nothing had changed apart from a couple of years passing.

Stupid processes! I will NEVER go back to WINZ.

I guess that might be part of the strategy - make it too difficult and people will give up in disgust.

Yeah but you never know, you might have a *new* birth certificate that shows a new D.O.B by then ;)

1299089 2012-09-10 00:36:00 Yes, if you are in receipt of a NS and work you must pay secondary tax to either your income or your NS

No. They were both qualified for the pension. Therefore there is not secondary tax, nor any deduction from the pension.

If however one qualifies and one is less than pension age and both go on it, then if the non-qualifying one gets some work, money is deducted fro both.
See?

They had it wrong, took a while but my mum got it sorted eventually.

Believe me pctek, no matter your partner situation if you receive NS and work you pay secondary tax. It may not be from pension but from the income from work and at that point is IRD taking care of things. ;)

The base line for that is that benefits and pensions are considered incomes to a point and if you have a second income you pay secondary tax.

It is funny how some people managed to be born again up to 75 times in the past... ;)

1299092 2012-09-10 23:00:00 So youse guys got snafus too?

I got a letter on my 65th birth anniversary that told me I am losing my '100% Disabled with a tax-exempt status' to 'Fully Retired with a 100% tax exempt status' .

It's nice to know that nothing's changed and that I'm still on the books though .

Now if they try to force me to join the military - all will be par .

But --- catch this: I cannot get a Montana driver's license since I cannot prove I was born . Yeah --- I don't have a birth certificate since I was born on a secret US Navy submarine base in where I can't say .

Montana's reason? I might be an illegal alien .

Lessee ------------ I went through US schools all the way to 4 1/2 years in college, joined the US Navy in 1968 and got my DD-214 (separations papers in 1972) that say I was born in XXXXXX (which I'm not allowed to say - it's a secret, ya know) and the USN never asked to see a birth certificate .

Then I went through a few schools for various licenses and they took my word for it that I was born here and all .

Then when I 'got' retired with a disability, even the United States Social Security Nonadministration couldn't get XXXXX to issue me a birth certificate, and just allowed me write out a statement of fact .

If the Feds can't get XXXXXXX (the unnamed state here) to issue a birth certificate, then it's a fair bet no-one can!

The score:

The USN let me in without a birth cert .
California let me have a driver's license without a birth cert .
Arizona let me have a driver's license without a birth cert .
BUT ---- Montana WON'T let me have one because I can't prove I belong here let along was ever born .

Lakewood Lady - get this straightened out as soon as you can since I bet your gummermint cubical clowns can screw you up as well as the state of Montana can do my driver's license .

I can't get a fishing license since (get this) I don't have a state driver's license .

Other than that - everything's OK .
