| 1298992 | 2012-09-06 00:39:00 | Just do you get windows 7 or 8?? I have 7 home premium on my eee pc 1201n, it's not bad. 8 I have had nothing to do with as I have only 2GB a month on XT for internet (no phone line so no ADSL) so can't download it to try. On a side note: I have been trying out Linux Mint 13 MATE 64bit. Back when I used it last Mint 9 it was stable with a few bugs. Now it is a mess, network manager drops wifi every 10mins or so, so I uninstall network manager install Wicd Then I have to uninstall the bluetooth stack and install a different one to get my BT mouse to work The mint menu only shows a frame half the time It seems to jigger the BIOS and I must reset that every third or fourth time I boot the thing. I think that they have fragmented their efforts too much with all the different versions and desktops they offer. They should go back to their knitting and work on producing one stable, usable OS in my view. |

They also said that the market for cars (automobiles) would be very limited as not many people would be able to afford a driver (chauffeur) I believe some sky dweller at the International Brotherhood of Magicians had the gall to suggest that "one day computers will be built under 5 tons". Yeah, Right; like that's gonna happen real soon now. |

| 1298994 | 2012-09-06 04:16:00 | I bought Vista, even used it for a few months. Then 7 came out and it was just better so I upgraded, that plus I had a 32bit only version and wanted more RAM. I do feel Vista is better than it's made out to be though. Yes it is more resource hungry than 7 and it's implementation of UAC is an annoying nag of a thing, but other than that it's fine. It got a bad reputation due to all kinds of problems at launch that have long since been fixed.Running on a modern PC with all the updates it looks and feels very similar to 7. Pe Personally I think the only true issue with Vista is it was released before all the bugs were sorted out. I even prefer the included windows Mail to outlook or live mail (not enough to put it on 7 though, cant be bothered even though I know it's possible). It certainly doesn't deserve being lumped in with Millenium which was microsofts worst windows release ever. Hardly surprising 7 has finally passed XP, how many years since they stopped selling XP ? |

| 1298996 | 2012-09-06 05:33:00 | XP is getting RATHER ancient so I'm not really surprised how Windows 7 is more popular. I've been using XP for ages now. Haven't had any regrets. But will move to Windows 7 shortly. So Microsoft will drop Vista at the same time they're dropping XP? |
