| 1325513 | 2013-01-30 22:31:00 | WT: are those refurbished, used or new parts at those places? Out of interest. When I needed parts and I didn't know about those places, I just got them on eBay, TM was a bit light on specific parts. Postal in a week or two, wasn't bad at all, postal wasn't that expensive provided they used USPS. Edit - saw one with $6US intl post. No brainer. I would assume NZ would be on the expensive side. |

| 1325514 | 2013-01-30 23:31:00 | All the parts are new. Just been speaking to Nick, checking on a part he was getting in for me (looks like it arrived when i was talking the courier turned up) :) , and I asked, he said he can get refurbished if required or asked, but like me doesn't really like it. My theory is if a part has broken previously it will break again, esp motherboards, graphic cards etc. One thing you have to be very careful about getting parts on places like ebay, there may be several different models of the same component, he mentioned a keyboard, myths one actually, there are a couple of different versions, and while they look the same there is a minor but important difference, the connectors may be different, the ribbon can be 2 inches shorter, and they don't stretch that far :D And re the international postage cost -- dont expect a fast service with cheap postage - Old story get what you pay for sometimes. Parts For me cost average a tad over $6 overnight courier to wgtn. |

| 1325515 | 2013-01-30 23:41:00 | If it can wait I'll eBay it, if I need it soon I'll pay the slight premium of buying within NZ. I usually buy from NZ, it just depends on what it is/how long I can wau. That being said, some parts are just too expensive from here, given the international alternatives. | The Error Guy (14052) | ||

The keyboard that myth asked about from laptop parts is www.laptop-parts-shop.co.nz I spoke to nick about the part I was after, then told him about this thread on PF1 - he chuckled and quoted me back the part -- I asked him the price -- I'm not letting to much out the bag :xmouth: Laptop Parts actually doesn't have a shop in NZ, they just order through their suppliers, so even though they say in stock - it is, somewhere overseas thats why it states on their site "In general, it may take about 7 - 15 business days for delivery" if you get one from overseas and its the wrong one as I mentioned before, then its send it back reorder another wait another week or more and hope they send the right one this time. ;) |
