2002-12-23 06:26:00 | Hi When i have MOH on full speed it keeps shutting down and so did RTCW (requires less graphic grunt) - I have Directx9.0 P4 512MB RAM 2.0G with a 128MGEForce 4 card. How can i test to see if overheating is causing the problem?

If it locks up then it could be overheating. If it reboots then it could be an incompatibility between your motherboard and the graphics card. Is the DirectX 9 a beta version or the full release? |

2002-12-23 21:00:00 | After reading a lot in the last 2 days it might be DX9. There are a lot of comments posted about not running it. They all say that it screws the OS and causes crashes. Your problem sounds more like an unstable driver. | samiam (2836) | |
2002-12-23 21:46:00 | I ran a mother board heat monitoring program and had readings of 75oC - so i suspect it is a heat problem? | taxboy (2828) | |
2002-12-23 23:10:00 | Get latest NVidia driver for your GF card. My games (AA, Ghost Recon) kept crashing until I dumped my Asustek driver for NVidia. Also, keep an eye on graphic card temperature (especially if you're overclocking the card). It can get pretty hot inside the case so clear the vent of all fluff and dust. I got a dual fan cooling unit from Dick Smith (about $20-$30) which I screwed into one of the 5.25" drive bay and they draw cold air into the PC.
