| 108396 | 2002-12-23 02:04:00 | On my laptop, which is Pentium 4 1.7ghz-m, if I right click MY COMPUTER and hit PROPERTIES it displays its megahertz as one of three things: 1.19 ghz 1.69 ghz 1.70 ghz All of these are as common as each other. I do not care about 1 mghz difference, but the 1.19 ghz is bloody annoying...because i dont know if, when it displays that, its running at that speed. Muchos not good. Rrunning Dell Ispiron 2650 with AC Mains always plugged in (yes, that is not the problem) |

| 108399 | 2002-12-23 02:38:00 | 1.69 = 1.70 .:D It's not a high precision caesium referenced frequency counter. 1.19 probably means that the CPU has been clocked down in a power saving mode, or to keep the temperature down, or because it isn't busy (only measuring its clock frequency :D). | Graham L (2) | ||
| 108400 | 2002-12-23 04:41:00 | dont worry about it!! Intel Mobile processors are equipped with SpeedStep tm. technology that clocks down the processor when it is not being used (no processor intensive tasks running) to save battery/increase battery life. AMD equivalent is PowerNow tm. cheers |
