108332 2002-12-22 19:01:00 just out of curiosty... whats the difference between a "micro system" a "mini system" and a "midi system" fergie (424)
108333 2002-12-22 19:28:00 refers to sizes (physical size) of Stereo systems.

There is no actual definition, its a relative size (to a full sized system which is largely unavailable now, due to miniaturisation)

108334 2002-12-22 21:45:00 Hi GF

What systems are largely unavailable now? If you are refering to seperates, there is a BIG market for them, and people are actually spending more money than they ever did.

108335 2002-12-22 22:20:00 Hi Baldy.

The "full size systems" which were (are) amplifier, tuner, cd deck, tape deck, turntable, graphics equaliser.

Sorry, I didnt really mean to say they are *not* available ever, but more that they are usually only available through specialist HI-FI stores. You dont usually see the real article at Noel Leemings etc.

Probably a good reason, as you still need a second mortgage to buy one.
I had one, but got rid of it years ago, just too big. I still have a set of Goodmans speakers and enclosures, cost a mint. Trouble is, they do not sound as good as the ones that come with a $600 midi unit now. Technology has moved on and left that brand behind.

Audio is largely in the ear of the beholder.

And I want to know, is an Audiophile a person who abuses sound?
