| 108326 | 2002-12-22 12:57:00 | Hello All, lol as you can probably see by the posted time on this i am up very late/early trying to fix this damn problem with my harddrive. Anyways I have a Seagate Barracuda 80gb 7200RPM harddrive. Now I went to run scan disk today and it brought up a bad sector, well 4kb of it anyways. I know it may not seem like much but these things have a habbit of multiplying (from past experience) I have tried everything to get rid of it, norton disk doctor, scan disk and what ever else i could find to no avail. Any ideas on how else to fix something like this. It is still under warrenty so if nothing works I can return it. :'( urgh not this close to christmas!!!. Oh i nearly forgot to add, after i rebooted the machine after it brought up the error HARD-DRIVE FAILURE IMMINANT PLEASE BACKUP and something about that S.M.A.R.T. thingy. This probably isn't too important cos smart has a tendencey of over reacting. lol even the 'friendly' asus POST voice on the mobo didn't help the pain of this :S So anyone have any ideas or should i just return it? thanks - David |
