108207 2002-12-22 06:27:00 I'm using Windows 98 and Outlook Express 6, and every time I get my new emails in, it likes to add a "bonus" multiplier of seven to the number of new emails I have.

For example, if it has downloaded three new messages, the words in the status bar area will say "21 new messages".

Anyone know why the hell it does this?

108209 2002-12-22 08:12:00 Are you sure thats not a plus.

2+1=3 :p

The only thing I can think of is doing a repair of OE.

108210 2002-12-22 08:33:00 Yea i have this problem too. It's worse if it trys to measure the emails from hotmail also.
I havn't found a solution though.

108211 2002-12-27 10:12:00 Perhaps there were really 21 emails.
If you have a spam filter operating OE may have rejected 18 of them and only displayed the 3 that were accepted.
You only have to use Mailwasher or a similar program to see the amount of junk there is around.

108212 2002-12-27 21:52:00 Do you have any message rules that leave certain messages on the server, eg emails over a certain size or from certain people? If so it will show the total number of emails available but not download them all into your inbox. tommy (2826)
