Many people have posed the question: "Why is there a fairy at the top of our Christmas tree Santa?" but Santa has kept the story of the Fairy and the Christmas Tree a secret and has never told a soul .

Well dear friends and yuletide celebrants, having cracked the password to Santa's computer and guessed his logon, now the story can be told:

In years gone by, in the days of thee and thou, Santa didn't just deliver Christmas presents, no no no! He also delivered the Christmas trees and because there were fewer children (and gullible adults) around there was room in his sleigh for both pressies and trees .

As time went on and children started wanting more than just one present, Santa's sleigh load grew bigger and bigger and the poor old guy was fair staggering by the time he finished his rounds . What with two trips for every chimney and the times he forgot and tried to take the tree down stump first, he was pretty worn out by the end of the night, even with the help of extra fairies .

One Christmas night he was really tired and grumpy by the time he got back to the North Pole . The night had not gone well, he being a broadband kinda guy and too many chimneys were 14 . 4k, then Air Traffic Control had kept him in a holding pattern over the Arctic Circle for nearly half an hour while some fool in a corporate sleigh took a shortcut through restricted air space .

He was finally coming in to land when one of his fairies tapped him on the shoulder and said "Santa, we have one Christmas tree left and no presents, you forgot to leave the tree at the last house . What should I do with it?"

And ever since that night, gentle reader, there has always been a fairy at the top of the Christmas tree .

Cheers, and a Very Merry Christmas to all .

Unfortunately due to wear and tear, the Fairy has lost the top position this year on the family home tree and has been replaced by a knitted Santa!
