| 109151 | 2002-12-26 10:11:00 | Just the other day I bought a triplex ti4200 64ddr Then for Xmas I was given Unreal Tournement 2003.HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!.Although unreal is looking very good at 800,600 I find I stil can't set detail to Highest. It seems the bigger the levels the more the the stutter. Should I have bought the 128ddr card. specs: win98, p4 2ghz, 512 333 kingmax bga ram,wd se 80 gig hd,17inch monitor . Reading apc lastest it sounds like win98 does not reconise more than 256 mb of ram. Maybe that's one of the problems. |

Also make sure you have the latest Direct X and video card drivers. Check your refresh rates are maxed out for your monitor and make sure VSync or Vertical Sync is "OFF" or disabled in your Advanced properties for your video card - this could make a huge difference - or sometimes "ON" is better - dependant on your setup. I think the 128MB card would have been better for UT2003 as it is a new game and it will use all the video memory you can throw at it. If you want to get technical - in you systen BIOS check that your card is running at 4X AGP (or as high as your MoBo will allow) and turn on AGP FastWrites and/or Sideband Addressing - these two will provide mixed results. You can always crank up the clock rates for GPU and Video Memory (overclock) if you want to add to the performance - be careful though ;) |

| 109154 | 2002-12-26 18:31:00 | I second tweake's comments. win9x can take well over 256Mb. You were silly to even try and comprehend an australian magazine!!!! UT2003 i don't believe will utilise 128MBddr for your video-card. I think all games at this stage really only utilise 64Mb. But thinks like the new DOOM will probably use the full 128DDR. So your problem lies with the speed of your CPU, or the GPU. |

Remember that for the pictures to get to your card they must come from your hard-drive first! Check to ensure that you have DMA enabled. Goto device manager --> click on your hard-drive then go into its properties and enable. Also ensure that there are no utilities running in the background while you play. and as tweake says make sure you have the latest drivers |

| 109156 | 2002-12-26 18:55:00 | you didn't say what kind of sound card you had. well this is similar to what happens to me with battlefield 1942. even with the graphics set fairly low, the game splurts and splutters quite often. now my theory is that this is because of my on-board sound system, which can't keep up, because the game runs smoothly at a framerate of at least 45. does anyone know if this could be the source of my/our problem? | tango (2697) | ||
