2002-12-26 00:35:00 | yea, i know how to check DMA in 98, but XP is different. but i believe intel app accelerator. i think it hardware - cause movie will be playing thewn frezze - and the drive light starts flashing - this drive the light stays ALWAYS ON when reading, flashing when it can't read.. no need for anti-virus. if i suspect a porblem i can download, install and scan using norton trial in under half an hour. anyway viruses are fun - gives me something to fix..

2002-12-26 01:01:00 | i forgot to ask....if you skip to near the end of the movie does it play or does it only crap out after its been playing for a while? after it craps out will it read a normall cd? as far as antivirus goes you're game. a bit hard to download an antivirus after a virus has wiped your hardrive and flashed the bios making the pc an exspencive paper weight. ;-)

2002-12-26 05:41:00 | mu 2 thoughts at the mo are either a heat problem but if it was heat i would expect that once it plays up cds wouldn't work either. or poor software, chewing up resources. its easy enough to try another dvd program and see. i certailly havn't seen this prob before but there are not many people around here with dvd players and i don't buy cheap players either.

2002-12-26 11:13:00 | You say this always happens in the 2nd half of the movie? My guess is your cheap DVD-ROM drive can't handle the switch to the second layer. DVD movie discs are usually dual layer ie. 9.6GB = 4.3GB per layer x2- usually when it changes layers the tv DVD players pause for a second - a good DVD-ROM or player shouldn't pause at all. You get what you pay for :P

2002-12-26 18:15:00 | Yea that was one of my thoughts to Hado. Though i didn't mention it as it would need to be a really **** dvd player ie, something is seriously wrong with it, for it not to be able to change layers | roofus (483) | |
