109133 2002-12-26 07:55:00 Im looking to do some game benchmarking on the MS .NET Server (Yeah, who cares if its a server, Ive got it for a year, so if its a better gamin OS, then why not?).

Ive got the original Unreal Tournament, and Jedi Knight 2 : Jedi Outcast

How can I get either of those (Or both) to show PFS rates?

Another thing,
Are there any drivers for .NET yet?

I've got a SB!Live 5.1 channel soundcard and also AC '97 Onboard sound and there's no drivers for either of them. Might have to try some other wacked drivers (Like the standard Soundblaster 116 for the SB!Live card) and hope that'll get me some sound.

Cheers

109134 2002-12-26 09:01:00 Go to http://www.madonion.com for some benchmarking software. Think 3D Mark has been on a recent PCW cd as well. -=JM=- (16)

for drivers for the SB Live (just select OS and card and search) - disable the AC'97 onboard sound (if you don't know how to do this - don't worry it's probably already disabled in the BIOS) - your sound card will deliver a lot better performance than any intergrated MoBo chip.

If your card doesn't work after installing drivers your onboard sound chip might still be enabled - you will have to disable this in your system's BIOS setup.

Like JM says get 3D Mark 2001 SE from MadOnion for benching DirectX 8.1 (gaming) performance and compare with thousands of other benchmarkers round the world - it was also on the September coverdisc.

109136 2002-12-27 01:08:00 Thanks for the link, I've tried there and its a no-go, they do not have .NET Drivers, so perhaps I should try using the XP ones, or maybe just the standard SoundBlaster Drivers that come wtih .NET

I had the onboard disabled in the BIOS, but re-enabled it to try out any drivers, no such luck, so I simply Disabled it in .NET Server!

I'll have a look at MadOnion.com but last time I looked, wasnt the downlaod rather large?

Cheers

109137 2002-12-28 04:51:00 Well, It seems to be semi-compatible with XP Drivers, there's nothing for sound at the moment, so I've disabled my onboard AC '97 sound and the SB!Live has a driver (Tried M$ driver for it and the XP driver off the CD and still nothing). That really sucks

JK2:JO doesnt work coz it doesnt pick up the GF4 MX 440 as being a 3D card, using either the M$ Drivers or the latest XP Detonators (40.XX) so that sucks too... But, I got UT to work, switched to Software Rendering (Coz it wont let me use driver specific modes coz it thinks its a standard card, not a 3D one.. even though is AGP DUH!) and I still get pretty high frame-rates on 1024x768! At least 80 FPS I would say, and that's with a generic Software Rendering!

Anyways, If anybody has any knowledge of drivers that work on .NET RC2, gimme a bell please, I know its Beta software and is a Server not a Games machine, but there's no harm in trying it out!

Thanks Guys, Just thught Id give an update on it!!!
