109333 2002-12-27 22:30:00 have a friend who has Home XP and uses outlook express.

when he opens the program it asks for his pop3 password.
just below the password box is a tick box for "Save password" but the box is grayed out.

why?

how do we fix it?

FYI:
the system was recently reinstalled by HP

he is loged in a and anministartor of the system (not using a restricted account)

he does not want to save the dialup password, just the pop3 password (which are the same)

thanks

109334 2002-12-28 00:31:00 Hi there,
Try going to Tools > Accounts > then highlight the mail account and click on Properties > Servers tab. That same box is there to 'save password'. See if you can change the settings there. I am not sure if this will make a difference. FYI the other settings there (Log on using Secure........ & My server requires authentication) are NOT ticked. I am using XP Pro on ADSL.

109336 2002-12-28 03:34:00 I thought as much.
I searched google and came up with this. (www.xenky.com) (5th problem down) Looks like you might be playing with registry unless someone has got an easier solution.
