| 109922 | 2002-12-30 06:00:00 | Can anyone tell me what the ring patterns are for faxability in New Zealand so my modem can pass faxes to winfax and leave voice calls alone?... It seems telecom sell the service of faxability but no one there knows what distinctive rings are!! Any help please... Regards Alvin Alvrez |

| 109923 | 2002-12-30 07:28:00 | Hi Alvin Faxability has a single ring cadence: Brrrrrr.......Brrrrrr.......Brrrrrr.......Brrrrrr. ......Brrrrrr.......Brrrrrr....... It sounds normal at the dialling end but is different at the fax. Cheers Billy *<8-{) :D |

I don't know any other way to express this other than: Normal ring: Brrr-Brrr....Brrr-Brrr....Brrr-Brrr.... Faxability: Brrr....Brrr.._..Brrr....Brrr.._..Brrr....Brrr The official Telecom faxability cadence designation is DA-4 and the on-time is 400mS. I would guesstimate the first off time to be 100-150mS and the slightly extended off as 200mS Cheers Billy <[8-{) :D |

| 109927 | 2002-12-31 10:55:00 | Good one falvrez . Cool eh! B-) LOL Hi Alvin . I guess that you may have already checked out their site, but if not here is Telecom New Zealand's telephone fault finding site . There is quite a bit of interesting info . on it including some actual sound files for Call Minder and Call Diversion . Unfortunately there weren't any for faxability . On one of the links, I saw a form that could be filled in for specific problems . Maybe if you could not get any sense out of a phoned enquiry you may do better on the internet . Click Here (www . telecom . co . nz/content/0,3900,201317-1091,00 . html)for the web link . Cheers :) |

| 109929 | 2003-01-09 10:17:00 | Hi the problem you may have is that a PCI modem will not recognise the different ring tones,so won't work with faxability. What will happen is that it will answer all calls, not just fax ones. This is a software problem with all PCI modems as far as i know,so the only way around it is to go to an older ISA hardware modem. These work fine,I know as I have just that set up.
