109701 2002-12-29 06:24:00 I have Norton SystemWorks and the Norton Anti_Virus Auto-Protect is always Disabled! Every Time I try and enable it, the screen turns red (just like the blue screen, you know when you get the blue screen when the computer freezes) and on it, it says:
NAV AUTO-PROTECT
Unable to initialize the virus scanning engine database files.
How do I fix that? Everything else works fine!
And it also happens when I turn on my computer, before I log on!
Please someone reply with a solution!

For a start look at the above 3 links, then if that is not exactly what you are after look at the google link below and that will give additional links to explore that might be helpful.

Hope you solve the problem soon.

109703 2002-12-31 05:02:00 try updating windows, whatever version you use, if you use any version older then 2002 version in WinXP then you are asking for trouble, because it is not compatible, upgrade to 2002 or newer versions.

try reinstalling it.

cheers

109704 2002-12-31 10:34:00 Hi,
I recall similar problem before with NAV. From memory after many searching through Symantec site (as per links provided above and similar) I had to remove NAV completely using Symantec NAV removal tool. It's called "rnav".
That may be what you have to do.
There is also (I think) a 'repair' feature on systemworks CD. Have you tried running systemworks CD again?
