109871 2002-12-30 00:16:00 Hi,

I just arrive in New-zealand (I am French) and I want to take ADSL at home for videoconferencing with netmeeting and I have 2 questions...

*Is the jetstart 128kb speed enough or is it much better with jetstream? But I think jetstream data cap (<1Gb) is too low for videoconferencing 1hour per day...
*For jetstart, only maxnet ISP has no data cap? For 1hour videoconferencing per day, do you think the 10Gb data cap (world-net for example) is enough? or 5Gb enough?

What do you advise to me? What is the better solution with which provider?

Thank you...

109872 2002-12-30 01:15:00 I would suggest that you go with MaxNet if you'll be doing that much.

128KBPS should suffice, but it wont be super-high frame-rates, maybe 7-8 FPS at 320x240 Res.

However, from what I understand, they reserve the right to slow it down if you're using a lot of bandwidth and there are a lot of other customers trying to use it at the same time or something like that...

JetStart would certainly be cheaper, and when I get cable, hopefully in 2 months time, I will be going with MaxNet because they have not capped Jetstart yet, and I would probably go over the 5GB limit with surfing alone!

If you want higher frame-rates and are prepared to pay with your wallet, then go with Jetstart.

Cheers
