| 110135 | 2002-12-31 04:54:00 | I am looking to update my soundcard to a good quality one . I have been looking around the web at manufacturers' sites and notice that some of them state that I need a PCI 2 . 1 compliant PCI slot for the card . What is this and how can I find out if I have one ? I am running a AMD K6-2 500 PC with Win 98SE . Can someone please help me here ??? |

| 110136 | 2002-12-31 06:55:00 | A search on Google brought up this advice: Windows 98 and Windows 95 OSR-2 allows you to easily determine if the computer supports the PCI 2 . 1 specification . If you are using Windows 98 or Windows 95 OSR-2, please use the following steps to determine if the computer meets the PCI 2 . 1 specification: Right-click the My Computer icon . Click Properties . Click the Device Manager tab . Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices . Double-click PCI Bus . If a tab labeled IRQ Steering is present, your computer is PCI 2 . 1 compliant . Others will offer more advice as you may need to open your case to determine if a free slot is available . |
