Then there is the type of fan used I guess > (You probably won't know either if you didn't build > your own system though :D) you guys missed the point. trying to do a survey or get an idea of temps is pointless if you don't include how it was measure and other relevent temps. an atho running at 80 degress would be considerd normall if measured with internal sensor with a 40 degree room temp but it would considered to be bad if the room temp was below zero! |

| 110107 | 2003-01-01 01:23:00 | Just to add to tweak'es point, the accuracy of on-board sensors is poor. The difference between on-board CPU temp vs CPU heatsink probe on an external meter is over 10 degrees on my system. Please remember that a dedicated temperature meter, accurate only to about 2 or 3 degrees costs more than the whole PC motherboard. Therefore do not rely on the motherboard sensors. You get what you pay for. They are fine for relative measurements (how much the temperature rises or falls) but not for accuracy of the temperature itself. It would be very possible for two identical setups to be 10 degrees difference in reporting from on-board sensors, when the actual temperatures are the same. Its only + or - 5 degrees in that case, but a huge % difference. |
