2003-01-03 05:52:00 | I have Norton SystemWorks and on it there is Norton Disk Doctor, everytime I run Norton Disk Doctor, when it gets up to File Structure it says: Restarting Due To Disk Write.... and it keeps on doing that! What do I do? Anyone with a solution?

These include screen utilities, anti-virus programs etc. Restart in SAFE MODE before running NDD When you reboot, press F8 as soon as Windows begins loading. You will see a menu. SAFE MODE should appear (as option 3 perhaps, but have no idea of what version of Windows you are running). |

2003-01-10 06:02:00 | Odd, with my Win98SE, both Disk Doctor and Speed Disk and all the Norton SystemWworks utilities run fine without having to close down any programs that are running. | Terry Porritt (14) | |
2003-01-10 06:20:00 | My Nortons Disk Doctor restarts when it detects that another program is writing to the disk. It might do this several times, but it will complete the task eventually - you just have to wait. By shutting down unnecessary programs in the background you may find this task will run faster without so many interuptions. Quote from manual: "Nortons Disk Doctor restarts its diagnosis if it detects that another program is writing to the examined disk. Restarting ensures the integrity of the data on the disk if repair are required. Restarting may occur several times during a single Norton Disk Doctor session."

2003-01-11 05:50:00 | Hi Mr. A. Are you having any success with the suggestions so far ? After many frustrations running these scan & defrag tools, and following much advice on this forum, I find the best option is to use: "End it All" - A free program that effectively closes all running programs in one hit. Just used it today. Did a scandisk in 3 minutes, Then a defrag in 10 minutes, on my 20Gb drive. After these are finished, just restart the pc, & so bring back all usual applications. You can get End it All here: www.pcmedixwebs.com
