110502 2003-01-02 08:01:00 A few months ago an anonymous donor was offering US $100,000 to the first person that could get Linux to run on the Xbox without any hardware modifications. As told in this (xbox-linux.sourceforge.net) story, the donor has now been revealed as Michael Robertson, former CEO of MP3.com and founder and CEO of Lindows.com.

Michael Robertson sold MP3.com to Vivendi Universal in May 2001 for US $372 million.

110505 2003-01-03 00:31:00 The trick is, Sony liked Linux on the PS/2. They now supply a kit to do it.

People have run Linux on an XBox, but it needs a chip added (or modified -- if its a EEPROM/Flash ROM). There is some body of opinuion that Microsoft might not make a kit available, for some reason apart from the one that they were selling the first ones at $US110 less than cost. :D
