| 110488 | 2003-01-02 04:54:00 | And have read Craigs excellant FAQ, thanks Craig. What I want to know is as my new PC4 has a Motherboard with a SIS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter I think I only need a network card for my P3. Is the Lan slot coming from my P4 MB with what looks like a phone jack slot where the cable will go? Is this the same connection as will come with a network card for my P3? Do I need any special network card to interact with my MB on my P4? One other question, I only have the one monitor, is there a cable which would enable me to have both PC's plugged into the monitor at the same time and be able to flick a switch or something to access one or the other computer, or would haveing the PC's networked make this surpurflous anyway? |

You need a crossover UTP cable to connect them, or else a standard UTP cable with a crossover adaptor (this will plug into the sockets you described. You need to buy a keyboard/video/Mouse switch to use the same monitor for two PCs. They are at Dick Smiths (des.co.nz) or trademe.co.nz |
