Ive used Adaptec too - In the end, if either comes with your burner, then use it.

I didnt like NTI CD-Maker that came with my frist Creative CD-R/W!

110437 2003-01-02 02:36:00 I have never actually used any version of Nero, but i have used adaptec 4 a few times on mates PC (to burn music - converted Mp3s to cdas, showed how much time was left on cd etc...) and it seemed ok, i even printed out a front and back cover with no probs.
My new (about to buy tomorow) CD-RW comes with nero 5.5, but the shop owner guy said i could get Adaptec 5 instead if i wanted....

i will be mainly burning music (from mp3s to cda) and backuping up files, and the odd important CD, also, i'll be putting cd's onto my PC (in mp3 format).

is there a certain one that will do all this?
Cheers

110439 2003-01-02 05:07:00 Well I have had Nero for almost a year and have struggled to get to grips with it ever since getting it with my Acer CD Writer. Only ever managed to copy two cdrw's in that whole time for back ups in INCD. Tried burning a music CD but nah. Also tried formatting several different CDRW's without success but nah! Finally after trying really really hard to get to grips with it because I needed to transfer files to my new PC and I came to the conclusion that there must be something wrong with my CD Writer or I was really thick or Nero was a slack program. Only 9 days until my warranty runs out on my writer so I returned it to the store and sure enough its faulty. Only problem now its going to be several weeks before the suppliers back at work to say they will replace it or fix it. Then I can try again to get Nero to work for me, hopefully without any further problems.

Sorry for the novel.:)

See if you can get another brand instead of Acer... I have friends who have had nothing but trouble with them. Avoid Benq as well.
