110426 2003-01-01 23:14:00 I wrote this ( . pcworld . co . nz/thread . jsp?forum=1&thread=29602&message=119907&q=linux+converts#119907" target="_blank">pressf1 . pcworld . co . nz) awhile ago .

Well i have wiped everything off, the setup is:

Current Setup:
2 Hard Drives - Disk 1 = 4 GB / Disk 2 = 6 GB:

C: FAT (Disk 1 - boot partition/active)
Unpartitioned space of about 3 . 8GB on Disk 1

D: NTFS Win 2k on primary partition (Disk 2)
E: NTFS Win XP on logical Drive (Disk 2)

I want to Install Red Hat 8 on unpartitioned space . How should i go about doing this? Should i use LILO or GRUB? I dont know the adv of each over the other .

Where should i install it? in MBR or first sector of boot partion (/boot)??

Any quick tips will be GREATTT .

Cheersss :)

110427 2003-01-01 23:37:00 Apparently Grub is becoming the fav now.

I installed mine on the first sector of the HDD or whatever (not the MBR) and it didnt work, that was a 2K/RH8 dual-boot, so Im currently booting off a disk.

Because you have 2 HDD's, and also coz when I tried the other option it didnt work, I would suggest that you use Grub on the MBR, Just make sure it picks up both WinXP and Win2K, You can configure it yourself in the Configure Advanced Bootloader Options (Put a tick in that box!).

Hope this helps

You can uninstall LiLo, interesting, I've always used Grub (without any problems) but being able to uninstall the boot loader would be a definite plus.

How do you uninstall LiLo?
