110539 2003-01-02 11:25:00 Is there a Y2K3 bug in F1 or what? Just tried replying to a thread and got message saying the reply is one Month old!! Worse after posting couldnt find my post anywhere! :O

Anywayss,
Thankxx Chillin silence and Mike.

I installed LILO. The first time i installed GRUB in MBR i couldnt get into my Win installations. Tried recovery and evrything but it wouldnt work so i set to do it all over again.

This time i installed LILO in first sector of /boot partion and left the Win MBR intact. Had to boot in Linux using floppy. Copied "bootsect.lnx"
into C:\ and then configured boot.ini.
So now I get into Linux using Windows NT Bootloader menu.

Phewwww It took ages to get everything reinstalled. All the apps into all the OS. Dont intend to touch the system again.....until next year maybe

But it was good experience with Linux/Win multibooting !!
Cheers

Yes, multibooting can be interesting :D, although the only time I have had a problem with GRUB is when I (on purpose) deleated the /boot partition... (but I was reloading my whole PC anyway).

110541 2003-01-03 00:54:00 Yes, Im off to figure out how to get it installed in the 2K bootloader.. How exactly did you do it? Chilling_Silence (9)
110542 2003-01-04 08:13:00 Hi Chilling,

When i installed RH, i chose the "install in 1st sector of boot partition" so when i rebooted i didnt get Linux option in NT bootloader. So i had to boot with Linux Boot floppy.

When in linux i copied "bootsect.lnx" file from the boot partition in Linux, in my case it was in "/boot" partition to Floppy.

So i rebooted into Windows and then copied this "bootsect.lnx" file to the C:\ which is the system boot partition. And then i added this line to the boot.ini file in C:\

C:\bootsect.lnx="Linux"

Well that was how i did it.
Cheers :)

110543 2003-01-04 08:23:00 :D Okay, noted down...
I had a different solution, I've tried out Lycoris Desktop/LZ Linux off the Aussie PCW CD and it rocks, with native support for NTFS and stuff like that, just having trouble with my old monitor.. It does 1024x768 in doze at a 60Hz Refresh rate (Which is the only rate it can do) but Desktop/LX throws a wobbly if its anything over 640x480, i think its to do with thte horizontal sync!
