111027 2003-01-04 08:40:00 I recently purchased a Mad Catz andretti steering wheel, but had to take it back coz it wasn't supported by Mad Catz any more, i.e. no xp drivers (no pun intended), what should I have brought, any recommendations? promethius (1998)
111028 2003-01-04 12:06:00 Well, I've heard the Microsoft Force Feedback is pretty good, got no problems with their joystick! Danger (287)
111029 2003-01-04 22:50:00 Where can I buy one and how much?......the mad catz wheel was a bargain at $99

(so if ny1 with MS Me or lower wants a cheap steering wheel, go to www.dse.co.nz......)

I had a look on www.pp.co.nz, they had one for $218....i was hoping for a bit cheaper....is that realistic?

111030 2003-01-05 03:42:00 Don't know how good that wheel is. Best if you can try one first. The microsoft force feedbacks are almost $400.00, so they 'should' be good. They have gear sticks and auto switches, and pedals and force feedback of course and feel very realistic, but I've only spent limited time on my mates one and no time on any others, so if your on a budget best to try some in your price range before buying. Most places have them like Noel Lemings and those types of places, an asian owned store may have them cheaper. Danger (287)
111031 2003-01-06 02:26:00 Hi , I brought a Momo Racing Force Feedback Wheel for the kids ( ;) ) for
Xmas. $300.00. It's running on XP Pro with no problems.

Looked at the Microsoft one and it seemed tinny compared 2 the Logitech
one.

Hope this some help.....

111032 2003-01-06 02:29:00 Microsoft make great hardware, very tough and lasts for donkey's years. BIFF (1)
111033 2003-01-06 02:32:00 Have to agree with BIFF and Danger on this!

I had a MS Sidewinder Gamepad a while back, very good quality, breezey setup on 95/98, well reccommended, or any MS Game accessories for that matter :-)

Pricing can get a wee bit steep, so maybe second hand would be an option unless you're not too worried about the price

111034 2003-01-06 02:34:00 So why can't they make software like that?

Sorry, couldn't resist that . :D

There's always one in every bunch, but I agree! My GamePad NEVER played up or crashed or did something I didnt want it to without me asking or . . . You get the picture!

Then again, Linux software isnt much different in that its installed stuff on boo that I asked not for etc . . Why arent PC's like TV's?!
