| 111362 | 2003-01-06 00:47:00 | I have just brought a PCI 3D card. I popped it in only to windows wont boot with it. I think that the problem lies with built-in 2D "card" that came with the computer because when I connect the monitor cable to it, it still runs happily. How do I disable the old card without ripping it out along with the motherboard. It doesn't list the "disable in this hardware profile" under device status. | 111363 | 2003-01-06 00:55:00 | Have you checked in the BIOS? Otherwise, Right click on My Computer and go properties Select Device Manager (I think that's it, Im on 2K so going by memory). Find the Display adapters, and open the group. Right click on the card and choose Disable. It will then prompt you to re-boot! Let us know how ya get on Cheers Chilling_Silence |

| 111364 | 2003-01-06 02:08:00 | What is your PC type? I have had experience with one PC that would simply not boot with a PCI graphics card in it, even by following all the recommended steps. It was HP 86xx series (8624 I think). Just not compatable and no way to disable the on-board video. Booting would give the beep code for "video card error" |

| 111365 | 2003-01-06 07:55:00 | My friend who has a computer shop had a similar experience in that the customer purchased a PCI GeForce 4 (or whatever) with 64MB ram to replace to old card in the AGP slot. The pc would have none of it. Sold the PCI card to someone else and put a new AGP one in. | Dolby Digital (160) | ||
