2003-01-05 19:16:00 | Hi Tango, I was just reading your post re: Junk Hotmail & wondered why you suggested using Yahoo.com & not Yahoo.co.nz? I set up a Yahoo account for my friend & used .co.nz. Thinking that .co.nz would be better as it let the family overseas know that it was mail from her. While setting it up we nearly ended up with Yahoo .co.uk. Pauline.

2003-01-05 20:17:00 | Oh well I didn't mean it was a bad thing to have it...it's just that very few people that use msn messenger have non-hotmail accounts. So it makes it confusing enough without the .com/.co.nz confusion. I guess if you are dealing with people who are more fluent with the internet it would be fine, but a lot of the people I talk to on messenger are not, and I'm always having to explain things :P The only reason I suggested yahoo over hotmail was because of spam.

2003-01-05 22:06:00 | hmmmm ok. Whenever I check my old hotmail account I used to use for messenger there is always a bit of spam there. and the dude in that original thread said he got lots of spam, and when I look at my friends inboxes there is lots of spam. maybe they changed some stuff. | tango (2697) | |
2003-01-05 22:07:00 | hmmm.. I have no spam filter, yet I know others who have it set to max and still get lots! I guess its just a freak chance with it? Could be what you sign up for too - Im pretty careful with that!

2003-01-06 09:03:00 | Its amazing how chilling doesn't get any spam in his hotmail. I opened up a hotmail addy for my 6 yr old 6 months ago and he hasn't used it yet. Every few weeks when we go in its full of spam. Because some of it is porn it has to be deleted. I obviously cant let him read the spam. Cheers tedheath

2003-01-06 09:12:00 | You get spam in hotmail for a couple of reasons. 1. you give your email address out to dodgy software signups or internet site signups. who then sell your address. 2. You have your address somewhere on the net, and spam spiders find it and then use it. 3. You are on the Hotmail Members directory. THis can be disabled by going into the options of hotmail
