1326253 2013-02-03 10:29:00 My friend bought a second-hand MacBook Pro with Win 7 Home Prem loaded but only to find that there is sound output 2 weeks later! There's no OS DVD came with the MacBook.

I tried to press and hold Command + R hoping to launch the Recovery utility but to no avail. I was trying to restore OS X and use the Bootcamp to download the Windows drivers for this machine but ....

I have tried to installed the realtek HD driver from some Apple forum suggestions but no luck.

Any suggestions as to what audio driver to use for this MacBook Pro?

1326254 2013-02-03 10:51:00 So, if I get this right it's a MBP with no OSX install whatsoever? Only win7?

If so that explains not having a recovery partition, what version MBP is it? Might be able to find the right bootcamp drivers & pull them out of the image. Either that or find the correct drivers for it elsewhere.

Just wondering though, what does device manager say about it? Audio chipset not installed/no drivers? Or does it say it's working fine. If it's all clean in device manager chances are it's using the wrong outputs or something similar mis configured in the settings.

Could also be that the sound card is borked, hence selling off a MBP with win7 on it (is the win7 install legit?, forgive me for my prejudice, it just doesn't seem like the most honesty john type deal :p )

You're right, it has got only Win7 on it. Win7 looks legit to me, I was able to update Windows, and it has got MSSE installed as well.
Where can I find the version of MBP? I can't any version printed any where, just the MacBook Pro below the screen, anyway, it's silver colour 14"(looks like) machine. Device manager looks clean, under Sound, video and game controllers: High Definition Audio Device (4 items )

To get the model number www.powerbookmedic.com

Since device manager appears "clean", try putting some headphones in, just in case the speakers are dead and/or outputs are wrong, then try right clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray --> and go to playback devices. Make sure the speakers are detected and are being used to play back audio. Also try playing the test tones.s

1326258 2013-02-03 20:38:00 Hardware id in device manager shows this: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10DE&DEV_000C&SUBSYS_10DE010&REV1002
Googled doesn't produce any results.
